As an opening and closing gate whose moving direction is perpendicular to the fluid direction, the non-rising stem gate valve can only be fully opened or closed, 

so it has no adjusting and throttling function. The non-rising stem gate valve is sealed through the contact between the seat and the gate, and the sealing surface 

is usually welded with metal materials to enhance the wear resistance.
